EWI of Northwest Arkansas Literacy Initiative
As part of the Literacy Initiative of EWI, the Northwest Arkansas Chapter holds an annual Reading Rally for children in grades K through 5. In October 2009, this was held at the Boys and Girls Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Approximately 80 children in these age groups took part in the rally. Local high school athletes and the Mayor of Fayetteville participated in the past few years as “readers” for the children and books donated by members and local booksellers are given to the children for their enjoyment and as incentive to become excited readers themselves.
